Donaire loses title to American in undercard bout

Nonito “Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr. lost his WBO world super bantamweight title against American Jessie Magdaleno in the undercard of Pacquiao-Vargas bout at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas,Nevada earlier.

All of the three judges scored the 12-round showdown in favor of Magdaleno. The scores are 116-112, 116-112, 118-110.

Donaire Jr. suffered his fourth loss with 37 wins and 24 knockouts while Magdaleno remained unbeaten at 24 wins and 17 knockouts.

Magdaleno fought Donaire Jr. carefully and wisely to avoid the latter’s hooks and combinations. Magdaleno stepped up his game in the middle rounds where he scored several big shots and cornered Donaire Jr. several times on the ropes.

Donaire Jr. suffered his fourth loss. He has 37 wins, 24 by knockouts. Magdaleno remained unbeaten in 24 fights. He has 17 knockouts.
