A 23-year-old man was killed, while two others were wounded in a shooting incident in Barangay Guizo, Mandaue City on Sunday evening.

Melboy Castillo, 23, a third year Information Technology student of a university in Cebu City and a resident of BB Cabahug Street, Barangay Guizo died instantly after sustaining several gunshot wounds in the body.

His two other friends and neighbors, James Cose, 17, and Christian Balbuena, 19, were also wounded.

SPO2 Renato Canja, desk officer of Centro Police Station, revealed that Cose allegedly teased a passing motorcycle boarded by a man and a woman around 8 p.m., saying “Mao na imong pares day? Bisaya-a ana’g nawong uy (Is that your partner miss? He looks very native),” Canja said.

Later at 11 p.m., three unidentified men onboard a motorcycle were looking for Cose.

When they found Cose, together with Castillo and Balbuena, they fired several shots and fled.

Police found 14 spent shells of a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.
