Three brothers in police drug watch list killed in Danao City

Three brothers who were all in the police drug watch list were killed by unidentified assailants in Barangay Dunggo-an, Danao City at past early this morning.

Jay Lato, 30, and his brothers Jake, 27, and Jave, 24, were gunned down by eight unidentified men who broke into their house in Dunggo-an past 1 a.m. today, Nov. 10, while they were asleep.

Investigators of the Danao City Police Office were looking at a drug-related motive for the killing since the three men were notorious drug pushers in their barangay (village).

“The brothers are in our drug watch list. We’ve been receiving reports about their illegal drug activities from (people in) their neighborhood,” said Senior Insp. Alejandro Batobalanos, chief of the Danao police.

Batobalanos also confirmed that the house of the Latos was a known drug den were drug pushers and users from Cebu City come together for their illegal drug activities.

Recovered from the crime scene were eight empty shells of a 45 caliber pistol.

During an earlier ocular inspection, Batobalanos said that one of the operatives saw a carton beside the brothers’ bodies with written words “Pamilya pusher, ‘wag tularan.” (Family of pushers. Don’t be like them)
However, the investigating policemen could no longer find them, Batobalanos said.
