UC retains secondary crown; Unit 5 tops elementary division in Cebu City Olympics meet

THE University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters retained the secondary division crown while Unit 5 emerged as the new champion in the 26th Cebu City Olympics.

Three events have yet to be completed but UC has already collected medals enough to defend its crown.

In the official tally released at 4 p.m. today, the Webmasters had 60 gold medals, 34 silvers medals and 31 bronzes. University of San Carlos (USC) will be finishing runner-up to UC anew with a 25-38-25(gold-silver-bronze) tally followed by Abellana National School (ANS), which harvested 19 golds, 20 silvers and 38 bronzes.

In the elementary division, Unit 5 dethroned Unit 7 by raking in 47 golds, 40 silvers and 35 bronzes. Unit 7 settled for first runner-up up with 28 gold medals, 18 silvers and 17 bronzes.

Finishing third was Unit 8, which produced 24 golds, 22 silvers and 36 bronzes.

Of the 25 sporting events, only karatedo, dancesport and billiard events were still being played as of press time but the results of the three events will no longer affect the overall standings, according to Department of Education-Cebu City Division.=
