A FIRE broke out at the Tayud Elementary School in Barangay Tayud, Consolacion, northern Cebu, destroying 14 classrooms at 1:15 a.m. yesterday.

Fire investigator Tyrone Gocela of the Consolacion Fire Station said the fire was caused by an overheated electric fan at the Grade 3 classroom.

“We are still gathering more evidence on the case,” he said.

Fire trucks from neighboring areas like Liloan and Mandaue responded and the fire was put out two hours later.

No one was hurt and damages were pegged at P200,000.
