Leylam FC, ERCO set up title match in Aboitiz football

DEFENDING champion Leylam Football Club (FC) and ERCO FC arranged a title showdown after they dispatched their respective semifinal foes in the inter-company division of the 18th Aboitiz Football Cup yesterday at the PAREF-Springdale football pitch.

In a rematch of last year’s championship match, Leylam FC trampled San Miguel FC, 4-1, while ERCO FC defeated Makoto FC, 1-0.

Leylam FC won last year’s crown by edging San Miguel FC in a thrilling shootout, 4-3.

Fresh from a fruitful campaign in Saigon 7’s Football Cup in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam where it reached the quarterfinal round, Leylam FC got the needed production from Felimon Sabella, Evren Tasci, Michael Pacite and Dan Marnil Villarico.

ERCO FC, on the other hand, got its lone goal from Rene Inoc.

The championship match will be held on Nov. 27 at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) in Mandaue City.

Before the title match, San Miguel FC and Makoto FC will fight for third at 1 p.m.

In the men’s BPO division, Accenture blanked Timex, 3-0; NCR defeated Lexmark, 5-1; while Convergys and Eperformax settled for a scoreless draw.

In the ladies BPO division, Timex downed Convergys, 2-0, Accenture and United Health Group forged a 1-1 draw, while Lear FC defeated Lexmark FC, 1-0.
