DORMAKABA completed an unbeaten run through the elimination round as they outlasted Megabond, 60–52, in the Architects + Engineers Basketball Association 2nd Corporate Cup on Sunday at the Cebu Eastern College gym.
Even without two of their top players, Dormakaba refused to let its guard down and pulled away with a terrific performance in the third period, which paved the way for its 10th win in as many games.
Towering center Jordan Alano scored 20 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the way for Dormakaba.
Niel Benedicto had a double-double of 18 points and 13 boards while Eric Pummer stepped up in the absence of former league MVP Ed Macasling, and added a dozen markers.
Dormakaba will next face Davies Paints in the semifinals, needing to win just once to barge into the finals.
In other games, Sea Olympus locked up the second seed and the twice-to-beat advantage that comes with it as it beat Davies Paints, 83–75.
Ayi Armenion scored 30 points and added nine rebounds while Arbison Gabison and Justine Aspacio combined for 27 to help push Sea Olympus into the upper rung of the Final Four.
Next up for Sea Olympus will be a semis date with Megabond.
Mike Cinco scorched the nets for 41 points, but it wasn’t enough to keep Davies Paints from suffering the loss.
In the first game, Phoenix got 40 from Paul Besinga to topple Fenestram, 94–78, in overtime.
