Carcar top drug dealer falls; ‘pusher’ shot dead in Danao City
AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) caught a big fish when they nailed Carcar City’s top drug personality at Villaverna Subdivision, Barangay Bulacao, Talisay Cebu at around 5 a.m. on Friday.
Reynaldo Garcia also known as “Brod,” 43, was arrested in a buy-bust operation that came after a three-week surveillance conducted by PDEA-7 agents.
Seized from Garcia were 105 grams of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), estimated to be worth P315,000, and a P1,000 bill.
“He was originally based in Carcar. (He was) the number one drug personality there. He was the number one supplier in Carcar (and) when the big time drug players left, he took over,” PDEA-7 Director Yogi Filemon Ruiz said.
Investigators believed that Garcia had a backer in the National Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.
Garcia reportedly supplied illegal drugs in Naga, San Fernando and Lapu-Lapu City, disposing of about two to three kilos of shabu per week.
In Danao City, a man who was under a police drug watch list was shot dead by men on board two motorcycles at around 11 p.m. Thursday in Barangay Poblacion.
Aidan Dagatan, 29 , sustained 11 gunshot wounds in different parts of his body after four unidentified men, riding in tandem, rained him with bullets.
PO3 Roselo Campo of the Danao City police said Dagatan was standing along Almendras St. when two motorcycles arrived. The back riders then shot Dagatan. Recovered from the crime scene were 11 empty shells of a caliber .45 pistol.
Campo said Dagatan was a suspected drug pusher under their watch list who failed to surrender in the police’s Operation Tokhang./with USJ-R INTERNS Delyne Marl A. Saragena and Danica Castro
