By: Glendale G. Rosal December 03,2016 - 09:49 PM

ALL is set for today’s Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association’s (CEPCA) Kiddies Chess Festival at the Robinson’s Galleria Cebu.

Around a hundred young pawn pushers will vie in two divisions; the 10-under and 15-under for both the boys and girls. There will also be a CEPCA monthly tournament that will be held simultaneously today at the same venue.

Marie Ernestine School, Talamban Elementary School and Lapu-lapu based schools will be fielding in a total of 30 players. University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), University of San Carlos (USC), University of Cebu (UC) and other schools in Cebu City will also field in their players.

The event will follow a seven-Round Swiss System format using the Rapid Time control of 25 minutes plus 5 seconds to finish each game.

Meanwhile, joining the final monthly tournament of CEPCA for the month of November and December are notable wood pushers, International Master (IM) Kim Steven Yap, National Master (NM) Merben Roque and Eduardo Dela Torre.

Exciting prizes aside from cash will be given out to the winning kiddies and CEPCA monthly winners.

The tournament’s main goal is to establish a regular kiddies’ tournament in Cebu for grassroots development purposes under the leadership of CEPCA President Engr. Jerry Maratas.
