PICKING THE TAB

In keeping with his administration’s pledge of austerity, a mayor told reporters that his family spent for the catering services to guests who attended a special event last week.

This was confirmed by one of his staff, who said the city government only spent for the tarpaulin announcing the event.

SOUND SYSTEM

A prospective Chinese investor had City Hall in a tizzy to make sure that his visit was comfortable.

When the Chinese businessman prepared for an audiovisual presentation of his business empire and potential investments, City Hall staff were unable to find a sound system for a laptop.

The investor settled for a microphone instead to amplify the sound from the laptop, drawing comments from one of the officials who questioned why they don’t have a decent sound system.

FORGOTTEN

A barangay official claimed that he was not interviewed by a reporter on a story which ended up on the front page of a local newspaper.

The story revolved around the complaint lodged against the barangay official who commented on it.

The reporter was furious and called up the barangay official, who apologized and said he must have forgotten about it.
