Osmeña takes on Rama’s challenge, submits to drug test
After former Cebu City mayor Michael Rama took a drug test on Saturday morning, Mayor Tomas Osmeña also submitted himself to a drug test at St. Vincent General Hospital at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Witnessed by St. Vincent General Hospital’s owner Lawyer Augusto Go, Osmeña submitted hair follicle samples to be used as specimen for the drug test.
Similar to Rama’s, the results of his test will be available in fourteen days.
In a press conference on Friday, Rama challenged Osmeña to a “one-on-one” drug test on Saturday and said he would wait for the incumbent mayor at Plaza Independencia at 9 a.m. so they could take the drug test together and end allegations that the former mayor was a drug user.
Osmeña however did not show up at Plaza Independencia 9 a.m. but instead posted a photo in his Facebook page showing an invitation for a senior citizen’s Christmas party and two small cans of Alpine evapotaed milk, which was said to help flush out traces of illegal substance from the body, with a caption “Getting ready for my drug test :D”.
At 3:49 p.m., Osmeña posted another photo in his Facebook page showing him sitting and answering questions from the media. Atty. Go was also in the picture standing beside him.
In the post he explained why he decide to take the drug test.
“Seriously, I did this not to cater to the whims of someone who obviously has nothing else to do, but because I owe it to the Cebuanos,” referring to Rama.
He added now that he has took on the challenge he urged everyone to focus on something that is good for Cebu.
“Now that this whole circus is behind us, let’s focus on something that’s actually good for Cebu. Thanks to Cong. Del Mar, Vicente Sotto now has a brand new building with more than a hundred additional beds so people don’t have so wait so long for proper service.”
“I also have big news regarding the development of the Cebu City Medical Center. Details coming soon (smiley emoticon).”
