THE MINDANAO-BASED Kamayan Pilipino Home Cuisine Archers will have a tough task ahead when they make their debut in the Tough Gear Sportswear City Hoops Basketball League this Friday at the Visayan Glass Gym in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

The team, according to team manager Rabboni Borbon, is younger and smaller than the rest of the competing teams but he believes his roster can deliver come game time.

The Archers are mostly composed of Intramurals players bolstered by former Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras Merbien Dedace and Willy Escobio and former University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguar Ajie Villaver. Also with them is former Cesafi All Star and USJ-R Baby Jaguar Sean Anthony Espiritu. Former La Salle University – Ozamiz skipper Isidro Centino is their playing coach.

The Archers will open the tournament against powerhouse USC-NC Elevens in the first game at 9 p.m.

Other teams who will join are the Velez PT Alumni, Don Bosco Alumni Caravario, Don Bosco Mertens, Maroons, Mavericks, Tri-J Marketing, SG-ARQ Builders, and Alta Vista Ballers.

Organizer Bertoni Salazar said he only picked 10 teams out of the 29 who submitted their lineups.

“We plan on making this big next year and hopefully we can have more teams to join,” said Salazar.
