Call for entries to Marian Film Festival
Entries are now being accepted for the short film festival of the 150th Jubilee of the Icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.
Revolving around the theme “Filipino Ako: Deboto ng Ina ng Laging Saklolo” or “A Portrait of the Filipino as a Devotee of Our Mother of Perpetual Help,” the all-digital film competition aims to “discover, encourage and support the cinematic works of Filipino filmmakers that creatively portray the life and struggles, griefs and anxieties, hopes and dreams of the Filipino devotees of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.”
The genre of the short film (duration of 5 to 20 minutes) could be drama, docu-drama, comedy or animation and must include the icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.
Works submitted must be produced or directed by individuals or groups of Filipino descent and/or produced in any part of the Philippines. The language of the film can be any of the Philippine languages. Furthermore, the filmmaker should provide all clearances of talent and an assurance that the film is free of copyright restraints or defamation.
Interested participants must submit the following: the final work in DVD format (3 copies) labeled with the title, production company address and contact numbers, production date, director’s name and running time; the duly accomplished entry form; synopsis in English; a brief resumé and two recent 2×2 photos of the filmmaker.

According to the Cebu-Manila Joint Commission of the 150th Jubilee, the entries will be reviewed and selected under the following criteria: strength and depth of the story; quality of production values (cinematography, editing, production design, sound, music, acting and direction); and fresh atmosphere/relevance/message.
Five best entries will be selected the week before the Visayas Congress of Our Mother of Perpetual Help on February 16-18, 2017, and will be shown during the Congress.
Each chosen entry will receive P5,000 and will be the Visayas entry to the International Congress to be held at the National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, Redemptorist, Baclaran. /PR
