ONE was killed while seven other persons were arrested in separate police operations in their campaign against illegal drugs.

In Cordova, an alleged drug pusher was shot dead by policemen during a buy-bust operation at around 10:30 a.m. last Wednesday.

According to Senior Insp. Clemente Ceralde Jr., the suspect, Joselito Coca, 24, was the subject of a buy bust inside his house. When the police was about to arrest Coca, they said he pulled out a gun from under a pillow, prompting them to shoot him.

He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. Police recovered a .45 caliber pistol loaded with seven bullets, two small sachets of suspected shabu and P300 marked money.

In Mandaue City, separate operations yielded five suspects. Three suspects were arrested in a buy bust in Barangay Basak Wednesday evening.

The City Intelligence Branch (CIB) of Mandaue City Police Office arrested Marvin Mananquil, Mark Anthony Heridia and Johnryl Decipolo who allegedly connived to sell shabu to a poseur buyer.

Police allegedly recovered from them six small sachets of suspected shabu worth P1,200 and P200 buy bust money from the possession of their target personality Mananquil.

Another drug pusher, tagged as the third top drug personality by the Centro Police Station, was arrested by Senior Insp. Janelito Marquez, chief of Police Station 1.

Joel Sabandal, 44, is currently detained pending the filing of appropriate charges against him.

Police recovered three small plastic sachet of suspected shabu and the P300 buy bust money from his possession.

Marquez said Sabandal has long been a drug peddler and was subjected to Oplan Tokhang but never surrendered to police.

The fifth person arrested was at first reported to be a motorcycle carnapper after he was caught attempting to take a motorcycle at the basement parking of JMall in Bakilid, Mandaue City past 10 in the evening.

Ian Vincent Dolino, 25, a construction worker, is currently detained at Subangdaku Police Station after he was found with two small sachet of suspected shabu in his pocket.

In Liloan, another suspect linked to self-confessed drug lord Alvaro “Barok” Alvaro and his live-in partner were arrested in a buy bust.

Giovanni Maglasang and his common law wife Rizalyn Laguna are allegedly members of Alvaro’s group.

Chief Insp. Franco Rudolf Oriol of the Liloan Police said the operation against Maglasang was a follow-up of the operation that led to the arrest of three other suspects believed to be hired killers and were a breakaway group of Barok’s network.

Police seized one big plastic pack and 15 small sachets containing shabu and P300 in marked money.
