CEBU Governor Hilario Davide III said installing a submarine cable for stable electric supply on Bantayan Island is not easy, but he said he was hopeful for the realization of the project.

After the Cebu Provincial Board authorized Davide to engage in a mutual agreement with concerned national agencies in addressing the power shortage on the island, the governor continued to pursue plans to install submarine cable as a long-term solution to Bantayan Island and its islets’ power supply problem.

“Hopefully, mao nay objective. Mangayo lang kog rekomendasyon ana. Ato na ikonsulta sa National Grid (Corporation of the Philippines). Naa pay feasibility ana. We cannot directly install og mga kable, that’s a very huge project (Hopefully, that is the objective. I would ask recommendation for that. We would consult that with the National Grid. There is still a feasibility for that,” said Davide.

The governor said the budget for the project will come from the national government. /USJ-R Intern Vanisa Soriano
