Thirsty football to give back to the community

By: Glendale G. Rosal January 30,2017 - 10:14 PM

THE 14th Thirsty Football Cup will be using a different concept when it comes off the wraps on Feb. 24 at the Cebu City Sports Center.

This edition of one of the biggest football tournaments in Cebu will carry the theme “Win For A Cause” as it looks to give back to the community.

The tournament, which runs until Feb. 26, will require each team to support a charitable institution of its choice. Thirsty will then donate a certain amount to the institution of a team that emerges champion.

Organizers are expecting 220 teams to join this year’s tournament, which is sanctioned by the Cebu Football Association (CFA).

There will be competition in under-seven mixed, under-nine mixed, under-11 mixed, under-13 boys, under-15 boys, under-17 boys, under-17 girls, under-19 boys, under-19 girls, mix open, ladies open, men’s open and 38-above.

Those interested to join the football festival can check out the tournament’s official Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ThirstyFootballCup.
