AFTER missing the Manila tryouts, Alyssa Valdez might join the Cebu or Davao tryouts for the women’s national team.

National team head coach Francis Vicente did not confirm nor deny this but he is welcoming the idea of Valdez joining the tryouts here in Cebu or Davao.

The women’s tryouts in Cebu is set on Feb. 18 and 19.

The 23-year-old Valdez failed to show up in the Manila tryouts last January since she was already in contract to play as an import for the 3BB Nakornnont in the Thailand League.

“If she’s (Valdez) here, well then good. I would feel honored if she comes here. We all know she was my former player,” Vicente said.

Should Valdez decide to join the Cebu tryouts, Vicente advised other athletes not to feel pressured that they are up against arguably the best player in Philippine volleyball.

“Everybody is given the talent by God so they shouldn’t be afraid whether they make it or not. It’s not about that. It’s about giving your best.”
