TWO Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) units and two colorum vans were caught by personnel of the regional Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB-7) last Friday and Saturday.

Jun Tumulak, precision specialist of LTFRB-7, said they caught the drivers of one Kia Picanto and one Toyota Vios at J. Ouano Street in Barangay Opaw and Hernan Cortes Street, all in Mandaue City, respectively.

“One of the conditions of the provisional authority issued to TNVS is that no hatchback units are allowed,” Tumulak told Cebu Daily News.
The Kia Picanto driver also had no provisional authority certificate issued by the LTFRB-7. Tumulak said the Toyota Vios also had no provisional authority certificate.

Both vehicles were impounded at the regional Land Transportation Office (LTO-7) and the owners will be fined P120,000 for their first offense.

Only 740 out of more than 1,000 transport network contracted drivers tried to process their requirements. Of that number, only 77 were compliant and were issued provisional authority certificates.

Last Saturday afternoon, two colorum vans were seized at the North Bus Terminal in Mandaue City and North Bus Terminal in Cebu City. Tumulak said the owner of the white van with plate number YGP 910 transported passengers with no franchise and documents presented.

Tumulak said the second colorum van picked up passengers even if its franchise is intended to service only tourists. The owner was fined P12,000.
