A TWO-YEAR-OLD boy drowned in a fishpond after being left to the care of his mother’s friend at Barangay Poblacion, Boljoon town last Wednesday morning.

PO1 John Rev Rebucato of the Boljoon Police Precinct said the boy’s parents were out working and they endorsed their child to their neighbor’s care.

The family lived near a fishpond owned by their neighbor’s employer. The neighbor was cooking lunch and failed to notice the boy wading into the pond.

By the time she went to the pond, she found the boy floating unconscious and brought him to the Boljoon Provincial Hospital, but he failed to make it.

An autopsy had yet to be conducted on the boy’s remains.
