ARCH-RIVALS Tiffany Claire Nocos and Julianna Maravillas forged an all-Cebuana titular showdown when they dominated separate opponents in the 12-under girl’s division of the 19th HEAD Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit yesterday at the Citigreen Tennis Resort in Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City.
The Lapu-Lapu City-native Nocos blanked Bernice Restificar 6-0, 6-0 and Donabelle Roma 6-0, 6-0 while the redemption-seeking Maravillas of Asturias town, Cebu towered over Caitlin Danielle Go 6-0, 6-0 and AJ Mckenzie 6-1, 6-0.
The two Cebuanas are crossing paths again after Nocos defeated Maravillas, 6-0, 6-3, to win the 12-under girl’s tiara of the recent 22nd JRG Gullas Cup at the Naga City Tennis Club.
In the 16-under boys division, Lemuel Garbosa defeated Cedric Bravo 6-2, 6-0 to set up a second-round showdown with top-seed Cebuano Venz Alforque today while Mark Albarracin and Diego Barrientos will go up against each other in the second round after they pulled off easy wins over Angelo Yu 6-0, 6-0 and Cesar Salimbangon (w.o), respectively.
