KIANA de Asis broke the hearts of the home fans as she moved into the 16-under girls finals after defeating Naga City, Cebu’s Lyrah Mae Repollo, 6-1, 6-2, in the Palawan Pawnshop – Palawan Express Pera Padala (PPS-PEPP) regional tennis tournament at the San Roque Tennis Club in Mandaue City.

De Asis of La Carlota City continued her dominant run in the tournament and set up a finals date with Filipina-Australian Ashley McKenzie.

Repollo bounced back from the loss as she blanked Donabelle Roma, 6-0, 6-0, in the 14-under girls division to set up a semifinals showdown with Nicole Villar while Asturias Cebu’s Julianna Maravillas and Shedel Gica completed the semis cast in the 14-under girls after defeating Hazel Batucan, 6-0, 6-0, and Khymmy McKenzie (walkover), respectively.

In boys play, Lapu Lapu City’s Chad Connor Cuizon had to fight tooth-and-nail with Douglas Maravillas before getting a hard-earned 5-4 (8), 2-4, 17-15 victory and moved into the 10-unisex semis where he is set to take on Scofeld David Tabura.
