1st Mondigo Motocross gets underway
Over a hundred riders from all over the country will battle it out supremacy as the 1st Mayor Benjun Mondigo Motocross Cup revs off today in Medellin town north of Cebu.
Among the homegrown talents to watch out for in the action-packed race are Jonjon Adlawan, Venil Abellar, BJ Pepito and Denmark Supatan.
They are expected to have their hands full against top riders from the cities of Dumaguete, Ormoc, Dipolog and Ozamiz.
The categories to be contested are the elite, expert, open enduro, local enduro, intermediate, veterans, beginners production, novice production and underbone. There will also be a showdown among executives A, B and C and the mini class 50cc, 65cc and 85cc.
“I look forward to a very exciting and highly entertaining motocross action in Medellin. This is one of our races that Cebuano fans should not miss,” said MS Motosuit top honcho Lou Ornopia, a one-time “Sportsman of the Year” awardee by the Sportswriters Association of Cebu (SAC) for his invaluable contribution to the development and promotion of motocross.
Ornopia will be assisted by Jonathan Cuyos and Edwin Dilao of the Medellin Fiesta executive committee in running the one-day tilt that is fully supported by the Medellin LGU under the leadership of Mayor Benjun Mondigo and Vice Mayor Lee RJ Villapez.
It is a fitting follow-up to the highly successful 19th Ornopia Motocross Cup last week in Calambua, San Remigio also in northern Cebu.
