FUSION authored a massive 136-67 beatdown of Elastogel to come away with the top seed after the elimination round of the Architects + Engineers Basketball Club Davies Paints Cup last weekend at the University of San Carlos gym.

Five players scored in double figures while three others tallied nine points each in the lopsided massacre that gave Fusion a 4-1 win-loss record, good for a tie with Bio-Fresh. Fusion claimed the number one seed by virtue of their win over Bio-Fresh in the elimination round.

This writer submitted 21 points, six rebounds and three assists while one-time MVP Ed Macasling added 16 markers, seven assists and four steals. Eric Pummer notched 15 while Kenneth Cadungog and Ed Sapio pitched in 13 and 10, respectively.

Bio-Fresh, on the other hand, routed Megacryl, 101-74, as Justine Aspacio paced the winners with 23. Reigning league MVP Ayi Armenion logged in a double-double of 12 points and 10 boards even as Bong Gabison and Brian Acebedo had 12 and 10, respectively.

Superdry, on the other hand, eked past Sun and Rain, 88-86, thanks to the 26-point performance of Mart Tabones.

Fusion will be taking on Sun and Rain, while Bio-Fresh tangles with Superdry in the semifinals this Saturday. Fusion and Bio-Fresh will be armed with a twice-to-beat advantage.
