AFTER falling short last year, Noel Tillor finally played true to form and pocketed the men’s elite title of the 5th Bogo City Duathlon Challenge yesterday in Bogo City, northern Cebu.
The 32-year-old Bogo-native Tillor bounced back from a second-place finish last year by finishing the race in two hours, 36 minutes and 43 seconds.
“I was lucky because there were no problems in the race. Actually, duathlon is a runner’s game and that’s one of the reasons why I have a bigger chance of winning most especially if it is a long distance duathlon like this,” said Tillor, who lost to 17-year-old Mark Domie Dinoy last year.
Coming in at second was Sulpicio Omboy, who timed two hours, 42 minutes and nine seconds while Jose Baguio finished third with a time of two hours, 43 minutes and 15 seconds.
Also scoring a big win was Minglanilla’s Lizane Abella, who ruled the women’s elite race with a time of one hour 56 minutes and 20 seconds.
Abella defeated the heavily favored Lucille Ruiz of Consolacion (1:57:07), who was coming off championship finishes in the Tayud Duathlon and the Consolacion Duathlon last month.
