Traffic rerouting set for tonight’s heritage tour

A traffic rerouting will be implemented in Cebu City for today’s “Gabii sa Kabilin,” an annual cultural activity which will be held from 5 p.m. to midnight.
The Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) advised that all vehicles that traverse from Colon Street coming from Leon Kilat Street will have no access to Mabini Street.
Motorists shall turn left to D. Jakosalem Street on their way to their destination. PUJs bound for SM must turn right to Imus Road then to their destination. Private vehicles may traverse Osmeña Boulevard or D. Jakosalem Street.
Vehicles from Sikatuna Street bound for Colon Street shall turn right to Zamora Street, then to Sanciangko Street or turn right to D. Jakosalem Street on their way to their destination.
Vehicles from traversing Isagani Street shall turn left to Mabini Street, then to their destination.
Also, PUJs bound for North Reclamation Area which have to traverse Junquera Street while passing P. del Rosario Street shall go straight to Imus Street, turn right to Sikatuna Street, turn left to T. Padilla on their way to their destination.
Traffic signs will be installed on the affected roads.
Held every last Friday of May, the event, which will feature cultural shows, exhibits, children’s activities, contests, food fairs and other activities, guests will have the chance to visit 27 museums and heritage sites in Cebu City, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, and Talisay City.
Guests can either walk or ride buses and tartanillas (horse-drawn carriages) to reach the various museums and heritage sites.
Useful tips for an enjoyable “Kabilin”
For an enjoyable and hassle-free experience, guests are advised the following tips.
Don’t go with an empty stomach as it needs energy to the tour museums and various sites. It is also recommended to bring some cash as there will be some food stalls along the route.
Guests must also wear comfortable clothes and must avoid bringing too many things since the event will involve a lot of walking.
Guests are advised to bring cameras and power banks to make sure that every memorable moment and views will be captured.
Going to the event will be more fun if done in group so tag along some friends and family.
For those who are not familiar with the place, it is recommended to bring maps.
Guests must also see to it to that tickets are with them. Tickets are needed to enter the various sites.
While security personnel will be around, guests must be always alert as pickpockets, thieves and other bad elements may take advantage of the large number of people.
