The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7) has sent a total of 20,000 family food packs to Mindanao to respond the need for food of the families affected by the armed conflict in Marawi City.

On May 25 and 26, DSWD-7 sent 10,000 family food packs to Iligan City; and on May 28 and 29, another 10,000 family food packs were delivered to Cagayan de Oro City.

“As a response to the immediate needs of the affected families, we provided support to DSWD-ARMM and Northern Mindanao as part of the concerted effort of the government,” DSWD-7 Regional Director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre said.

“Through the Visayas Disaster Response Center (VDRC), we were able to improve the production of family food packs using the mechanized production system, storage of food packs and warehousing of food and nonfood commodities,” Macapobre added.

Each family food pack contains six kilos rice, four cans sardines, four cans corned beef or beef loaf and six sachets 3-in-1 coffee.
