VESCON Construction and ASPA Formworks battle it out for the championship in the 2017 Cebu City Mayor’s Cup Commercial Basketball Tournament today at the Cebu City Sports Institute.
Pride and the whopping P50,000 cash prize will be on the line in this tournament backed by sports patron Joselito Manguerra with the blessing of Cebu City Mayor Tomas R. Osmeña.
Vescon is heavily favored in the championship clash after it swept the elimination round and punctuated it with a dominant 117-87 win over ASPA last Saturday.
Even without its big guns, Vescon was still able to come up with the easy win, thanks to the efforts of their shock troopers, Joey Manguerra, Janjan Narvasa, Roland Doy and Merbien Dedace. However, Vescon’s main guys – Harold Cincoflores, Mark Abadia, Mark Ababon, Nat Cruz, Franklin Nailon, Ronan Isidro – are all expected to ball out today, making them the odds on favorite to bring home the title.
ASPA though, will have something to say about that as they go to war behind studs Arnold Quilaton, Romar Ponce, Rory Paspie and Mil Linao.
The battle for third place will pit LM Paragsa and RCR Builders.
