Bohol PB Member Niño Boniel now charged with parricide over wife’s death

Five suspects in the killing of Bien Unido Mayor Gisela Boniel by led the mayor’s husband Bohol Provincial Board Member Niño Rey Boniel (extreme left, face covered with towel and with a red jacket on his lap), and including who have turned witnesses (right and 2nd from right) , arrive at the Lapu-Lapu City Prosecutors Office for their inquest proceeding early this afternoon.

Parricide charges were filed today by the police against Bohol Provincial Board(PB) Member Niño Rey Boniel for allegedly killing his wife, Mayor Gisela Boniel of Bien Unido town, and throwing the latter’s body into the sea.

Escorted by policemen, Niño arrived at the Lapu-Lapu City Prosecutor’s Office at past 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

Also charged were Niño’s were four of his eight alleged cohorts: his cousin Riolito “Etad” Boniel, Randel Lupas, Willy Hoylar and Restituto Magoncia Jr. as his co-conspirators.

Still at large are Lubo Boniel, Allan Delos Reyes Jr. Wilson Hoylar and Brian Boniel Saycon.

Roilito and Lupas have been endorsed by the police to be turned into state witnesses.

PB Member Boniel was accompanied during the inquet proceedings by legal counsels s Leilani Villarino and Gerardo Carillo and the board member’s uncle, Romero Boniel, also a lawyer.

Niño was pointed to by at least two witnesses as the same person who shot Gisela before he dumped the body to the sea between Bien Unido in Bohol and Caubian Island off Lapu-lapu City on Mactan Island.

Gisela’s body has yet to be located.

Niño was also accused by Gisela’s best friend Angela Gamalinda-Leyson of holding her and her 17-year-old son against their will inside a resort in Bien Unido last June 7 while the PB Member allegedly hit the mayor.

Separate complaints of kidnapping and serious illegal detention were filed by the Leysons against Niño at the Bohol Provincial Prosecutor’s Office last Friday.
