THE 1997 Ronins pulled themselves closer to the league leaders with two victories in Division 2 of the University of San Carlos North Alumni Basketball Conference Summer League 2 Powered by Common Ground last weekend at the USC North Campus Gym.
The Ronins took down the 1996 Chubbies with ease, 75-45, before pulling off a hard-earned 46-38 win over the 2001 Lite Shipping. 1997 now stands with a 4-2 win-loss record, half a game behind the 1998 Sipat and the 1999ers, which boast of identical 4-1 cards.
Kristian Tapic and Jake Saturinas were the main men for the Ronins against the Chubbies as they combined for 37 points. Saturinas was then a one-man show versus Lite Shipping as he piled up 22 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
2001 though, recovered with a 53-49 win over Sipat, to even its record to 3-3. The 1999ers also prevailed over the 2000 Millennium Bugs, 46-35.
