A MAN who admitted to trying to rob a girl surrendered to police at dawn Thursday in relation to the previous evening’s fatal shooting of a fastfood outlet employee at Barangay Carreta, Cebu City.

Senior Insp. Dexter Barsigo of the Parian police said they received a call from Barangay Lorega officials after 34-year-old Rolando Ybañez, a resident of the area, surrendered to them.

“Ako syang gitiman-an, kay nang snatch ko sa isa ka babae unya eyang gitabangan, mao tong ako syang gibalikan ug gipatay (I watched him, because when I snatched from a girl, he helped her. That’s why I got back to him and killed him),” Ybañez was quoted as saying.

The suspect is detained at the Parian police precinct pending the filing of charges against him.
