IronMan medals by Kenneth Cobonpue

FOR award-winning Cebuano furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue, seeking inspiration and executing the design for the finishers medal and trophy of the Cobra IronMan 70.3 Philippines is just like competing in the grueling race itself.

He jokingly said during yesterday’s Meet the Pros forum at the Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa that the next time he’ll be tasked to design the medal and trophy, he’ll just put a replica of his face instead.

For this year’s design, Cobonpue went to back to the three courses – the swim, run, and bike strung in a gigantic loop.

“I tried to put figures from an aerial perspective, an aerial shot much like a drone camera would take it,” he said.

The medal is composed of cast resin and brass while the trophy is made out of solid brass.

“I have to start thinking now for next year,” he said referring to the 2018 Cobra IronMan Asia Pacific Championships.
