SEI has new partner for IronMan races

STARTING next year, the IronMan 70.3 Philippines will have a new partner.

This as Sunrise Events, Inc. (SEI), the organizing crew responsible for IronMan races in the country, and Regent Foods Corporation forged a five-year sponsorship contract that will start next year.

Regent will replace Cobra Energy Drink of Asia Brewery Inc. as the title sponsor of the prestigious triathlon competition.

Regent’s sponsorship starts with the second staging of the IronMan 70.3 Asia Pacific Championships next year in Cebu.

“We got a fantastic relationship with Cobra, they supported us from the beginning and they are very active in a lot of events, but I think they want to go in a different direction but they are still associated with Sunrise Events and coincidentally Regent expressed their interest and signed up with a five-year partnership with us so we are really looking forward to work with them,” SEI CEO Wilfred Steven Uytengsu said.

In its first of the Asia Pacific Championships in 2016, the competition attracted 3,000 triathletes from around 50 countries. With the new partnership with Regent Foods Corporation, SEI is confident they can duplicate the successful hosting of the race.

“They stepped up big time and of course they are ready for the Asia Pacific Championships so we are looking to a great relationship to them. We will be announcing soon the new name of IronMan 70.3 event here in the Philippines.”

Last Sunday, a total of 2,762 triathletes from 52 countries vied in the last IronMan 70.3 race with Cobra as title sponsors.

“The bonus of the new partnership with Regent was we were able to negotiate with them for the Asia Pacific Championships next year which is not really part of the contract but we were able to get it,” said SEI general manager Princess Galura.

SEI said it will launch the new logo and given title of the IronMan 70.3 Asia Pacific Championships soon.
