AFTER a semifinal defeat in the 14-U girls division, Lapu-Lapu City netter Tiffany Claire Nocos rebounded in style as she bagged the 12-U title by beating Tenielle Madis, 7-5, 6-2, in the Palawan Pawnshop – Palawan Express Pera Padala (PPS-PEPP) yesterday in Sucat, Paranaque.

The 11-year-old Nocos was stopped by eventual 14-U girls’ champion Sydney Enriquez in the semifinal round, 6-1, 6-4.

Enriquez went on to pocket the 14-U tiara by beating April Bentillo 6-1, 6-4.

But Nocos recovered in the 12-U division as she stunned the top-seeded Madis. who earlier lost to another Cebu bet in Chad Connor Cuizon in the 10-unisex finals.

Action continues in the PPS-PEPP at the same venue as the men’s and women‘s Interschool and the open tournaments will get underway tomorrow.

Among the Cebuanos who will join in the inter-school tournament are UAAP Season 77 Rookie of the Year (ROY) Joshua Kinaadman of the University of the East and Jana Pages of the Ateneo de Manila University while Noy Seno, Arthur Pantino, Marc Norman Enriquez and Dumanjug’s Franklin Encarnacion headline the open play.
