Businesswoman invited to clarify reports on waste disposal in area

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) will invite businesswoman Mimi Yuvienco for a technical conference next week after its team found traces of cow manure in Guba creek.

The agency will also impose a P10,000 fine on the dairy farm of Minerva “Minnie” Yuvienco after their team got barred from entering the facility to get water samples.

Yuvienco belied the allegations saying they’ve been properly disposing the farm’s waste since they opened in 2008 by drying the dung and using it as fertilizer.

The Cebu City Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro) recommended the installation of a waste water treatment facility in the area.

But Yuvienco questioned this, saying they don’t dispose waste water to the river or creeks.
