BUSAY LANDSLIDE

The landslide that resulted in debris blocking a national road in Barangay Busay, Cebu City, and rendered inaccessible Busay’s famous tourist spots like Mountainview Resort, Lantaw Restaurant and Temple of Leah, drew concern from netizens.

Magale Erasmo Bandix said, “It’s really a very dangerous place. The government should put something on the mountains to avoid soil erosion. And officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways should regularly check the area to avoid accidents.”

Consing Ybanez said, “Government officials should also put signages or warnings on the road so the travelers who are not very familiar with Barangay Busay will be informed how safe or dangerous it is to pass in the area.”

Nersas Petalcorin also commented. “With this type of soil, the side slope must be corrected. The heavy rains will surely erode the soil in mountain areas.”
