The 2000 Core Pacific continued its winning ways with a 64–38 bashing of the 1994 Filmon Finishing Studio in Division B of the 22nd SHAABAA Basketball Tournament Powered by Common Ground the other night at the Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.
The win was Batch 2000’s ninth in 10 games, as the battle for the top seed intensifies with the playoffs looming on the horizon. Marvin Roma led Core Pacific’s balanced attack with 10 points.
In all, 11 different players scored for Core Pacific.In the other Division B game, Chick@Phil got its very first win of the tournament, beating the 1992 Silver Anniversary, 50–44.
In Division C, the 2007 Petron Global Carriers and the 2015 People’s General registered victories to solidify their positions in the upper half of the standings.Christian Pepito scored 16 to lead Petron past the 2013 Hyksos, 29–27.
Lonrenzo Otero and Julito Pogoy, on the other hand, had 19 and 16 points, respectively, to power People’s General over the 2005 Bizol, 52–44.In other games, the 2006 Prince Warehouse blew away the 2014 Bling Nation, 69–49, while 2008 Cottonseed scored a 60–34 rout of the 2011 Bling Nation.
