BMW Cebu launches all-new 5 series
Autowelt BMW Cebu unveiled last Sept. 29 the all-new BMW 5 Series at its dealership along Cebu Veterans Drive in Nivel Hills, Cebu City.
BMW’s bet in the E-segment is now in its seventh generation since it started production in 1972.
According to Gateway Group executive vice president Michael Goho, the 5 Series is one of the best selling BMW vehicles in Cebu.
Three variants will be available, starting with the 520d Luxury, the 520d M Sport and the range-topping 530d Luxury. Price starts at around P4.6 million.
Displayed during the launch that was attended by selected guests and Cebu media was the 520d M Sport.
The new 5 Series gets a lot of styling cues from the bigger 7 Series capped off with the signature kidney grill now connected to the headlights. The front end is now bolder with a wider lower air intake and more defined creases on the hood.
Also new is a more curved roofline and three character lines at the sides. The first character line is seen at the lower half of the doors, the second runs through the door handles to the tail lights while the third starts from the top, into the patented Hoffmeister kink and merges into the second character line.
Behind, the new 5 Series now has a sleeker version of the L-Shaped tail lights.
Under the hood of both 520d models is a new four-cylinder, 2.0-liter, TwinPower Turbo diesel engine that produces 190 Pferdestarke (PS) and 400 newton meter (NM) of torque. The 530d has a 3.0-liter inline-six diesel powerplant with TwinPower Turbo tech. It produces 265 PS and 620 Nm of torque.
The 5 Series comes standard with adaptive LED headlights, LED fog lights, and a rear view camera along with a myriad of other exterior options and features. One of the highlights of the interior is the ambient lighting, which gives the driver a choice of colors that could set the mood of the sedan’s luxurious cabin.
