Sherilin Plastics win in 2 OT to bag title
SHERILIN Plastics pulled out all the stops in crunch time to emerge as the champions in the Crossfit Subtero Metro Cebu Basketball League Season 1 after they edged Harley Davidson, 97-93, in double-overtime last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu basketball court.
The combination of former two-time Cesafi MVP Enrico Llanto and athletic forward Daryle Tan was enough to lift Sherilin Plastics of team owner Richard Mercado to the winner’s circle even after trailing for most of the way in the tightly contested ballgame.
Llanto, the former University of San Carlos stud, had 33 points including two crucial free throws with two seconds left that sent the game into the first overtime after Harley Davidson’s Steven Co was called for an unsportsmanlike foul as he grabbed Llanto to stop him from going on a fastbreak.
Tan, on the other hand, churned out 25 markers.
Harley Davidson still led by six late in the second overtime before Sherilin Plastics finished the game strong to nab the thrilling victory and claim the title.
Fletcher Galvez had 22 to pace Harley Davidson.
