THE University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) and the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) shoot for spots in the finals when they take on separate opponents in the F2 Logistics Cesafi girls’ volleyball tournament semifinals today at the USPF Covered Court.
Both USJ-R and USPF currently hold a 1-0 (win-loss) records in the semis and would need just a victory to advance to the best-of-three finals.
USPF, which is currently riding a six-game winning streak that dates back to the elimination round, squares up against the University of Cebu (UC) at 9 a.m. today. USJ-R goes up against the battle-tested Southwestern University (SWU)-Phinma at 10:30 p.m.
The Baby Panthers pummeled UC, 25-16, 25-16, in their lone elimination encounter last month. USJ-R also defeated SWU-Phinma in straight sets during the elimination round.
In boys’ semis action, USPF and SWU-Phinma hope to boost their finals chances when they lock horns at 3 p.m. while the University of San Carlos (USC) and UC look to keep their championship hopes alive as they tangle at 1:30 p.m.
In the collegiate division, reigning champions USJ-R aims to get back on the winning track as they battle USPF while UC guns for their first win of the season against the Cebu Institute of Technology – University in men’s play.
In women’s action, SWU-Phinma eyes to keep its immaculate record intact when it goes up against the winless UC.
