Cebuano pugs win in Calbayog slugfest

CEBU-BASED boxers triumphed in the “Bakbakan Sa Adlaw Sang Calbayog” last Friday evening at the Calbayog City sports center.

Former WBO oriental featherweight champion Neil John Tabanao of Rex Wakee Salud (RWS) boxing gym ended his three-fight losing skid by scoring an easy first round technical knockout (TKO) victory against Philippines Mindanao Professional Boxing Federation lightweight champion JP Macadumpis in the main event.

Ardie Boyose also came off a 10-month layoff to beat Jun Ryan Quimbo via a sixth-round TKO.

Tabanao, a native of Panabo City, improved to 14 wins (10 knockouts) to go with four losses.

He came off losses to Japanese Teiru Atsumi, Russian Evgeny Smirnov and Ghanian Isaac Dogboe.

Macadumpis suffered his ninth loss. He has 11 wins (5KOs) and one draw.
