THE Spartans earned their second win in four games while the Cavaliers finally barged into the win column in last Saturday’s resumption of the 2017 IBP basketball league at the Capitol Parish gym.

Power rookie Oliver Moeller a.k.a. Mr. Handsome, had a monster game of 26 points and 15 rebounds in leading the sophomore team Spartans to an easy 76-55 spanking of the Rebels. Mat Eric Medalle and Redem Regis added 11 for the winners while Din Padoga paced the Rebels with 19 points and 9 assists.

The Cavaliers, on the other hand, got the better of fellow cellar-dweller YLAC, beating the latter, 57-55, on James Jabil’s endgame heroics.
Down 54-55, Jabil scored on a drive, drew a foul and sank one of his charities for the Cavaliers’ come-from-behind win. Jabil had 23 points. Michael Angelo Sarno led YLAC with 16 points.

Meanwhile, in the first game, Talisay City Prosecutor Ryan Sojor had 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to tow the Bad Boys to a nerve-wracking 79-73 win over the Pañeros which was led by Napolcom lawyer Ronald Arreza Luib’s 17 markers.

The Idols kept their hold of the lead after surviving the Gilas Defenders, 61-60, on sweet shooting Lito Ortiz’s 14 points and 6 assists performance.

The Idols led by double digits early but Van Ligutan and Khan Guieb rallied the Gilas Defenders to cut the Idols’ lead down to just a point, 61-60, with 10 seconds left. The Idols tried to kill the time but committed a turnover. However, Al Lagahit and James Hupp fumbled in the last sequence of the game. Ligutan led the Gilas Defenders with 17 markers and 15 boards while Judge Sammy Malazarte added 11 points and 7 assists for the Idols.
