Police to enforce discipline zone in Lahug next month

A SO-CALLED “discipline zone” will be enforced in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City, to clear the streets of vandals, petty crooks and ambulant vendors in the area starting next month.

Chief Insp. Clark Ariola, newly installed chief of the Mabolo Police Precinct, said the program was based on a directive by Chief Supt. Jose Mario Espino, Police Regional Office chief, to reduce petty crimes and ease traffic congestion during the holidays.

He asked the public to cooperate since it will benefit them.

Ariola said they will meet with sidewalk vendors, street dwellers and motorcycle-for-hire (habal-habal) drivers to inform them of the program.

Ariola said they will crack down on the habal-habal drivers and passenger jeepney drivers who load and unload passengers on nondesignated areas.
