FEED your imagination this Christmas season as popular Filipino fictional comic character “Ang Panday” is back on the big screen.
Created by Carlo J. Caparas in 1970s, “Ang Panday” returns to the big screen as part of Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2017. It is topbilled and directed by King of Primetime TV and Movies Coco Martin.
Produced by Star Cinema, Viva Films, and Martin’s CCM Film Production, the film is about Flavio (Martin) who will save the people from the dark forces of evil led by Lizardo, played by Jake Cuenca.
Flavio will search for the mighty sword that he will use to defeat the villains. He will be called “Ang Panday” (The Blacksmith) by the people, who will see him as a hero.
The late Fernando Poe Jr. was the first one who played the character in a movie after the comic character was released in 1970s.
Martin, on his Instagram account said, “Maraming salamat FPJ sa pag gabay po ninyo sakin alam ko po kayo at ginagabayan nyo ako sa pag buo ng Probinsyano at Panday maraming maraming salamat po The King mahal na mahal ka po namin!!!”
The actor-producer pulled out all the stops in making sure the production is top notch. The trailer showed impressive special effects. And his choice of leading ladies? No less than Miss International 2016 Kylie Versoza and Binibining Pilipinas International 2017 Mariel de Leon.
Versoza, on her Instagram account, said, “Ang Panday showing this December 25! Here is part of the trailer. Hope you can support me in my first film! Thank you @mr.cocomartin!”
The stellar lineup of supporting actors include Agot Isidro, Albert Martinez, Gloria Romero, Elisse Joson, Mccoy de Leon, Awra Briguela, Jaime Fabregas and Eddie Garcia.
