LTFRB to probe viral video of mauled taxi driver
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Central Visayas (LTFRB – 7) announced that they will be investigating the incident involving an elder passenger who allegedly mauled a taxi driver which made the rounds in social media this morning.
LTFRB – 7 regional director Ahmed Cuizon told reporters that once the photos and videos will be forwarded to his office, they will be requesting the presence of the people involved.
(If the video will be forwarded), we’ll summon the driver, the passenger, and the taxi operator for appropriate actions. So that we can determine who will be held accountable in this matter,” Cuizon stated.
The post, which reached more than 6,000 reactions and 1,000 shares in Facebook, showed an older woman who knocked the door of a taxi door, and when it was opened, reached out to pull the driver out from the vehicle.
The photos and videos were posted by a Facebook user namely Zeerex Joy Bolongaita Nacario.
Nacario, on his caption, claimed that the taxi driver refused to accommodate the elder passenger since the former was on his way to rest in Talisay City while the latter was bound for Mandaue City.
He said they hailed the same taxi and even though his group was bound for Mandaue City, they were accommodated.
“While padung na sakay kalit niduol ang babaye, gituktok ang taxi… nagyawyaw cya kay dapat daw dli na mopick up ug pasahero… then nikuha sa iya fon to take photo of the driver dw… nirason ang driver nga same ra mig destination… suddenly gikumot sa babaye ang buhok sa driver (While we’re on our way to get on the taxi, the lady approached us and knocked on the taxi. She was complaining that it wasn’t right for taxi drivers to choose passengers. Then she took her phone and took a photo of the driver. The driver reasoned out that we have the same destination. Suddenly, the lady pulled the hairs of the driver),” explained Nacario.
