KAPAMILYA actress Julia Montes is happy to be back on TV via ABS-CBN’s afternoon series “Asintado.” She stars alongside Aljur Abrenica, Shaina Magdayao, and Paolo Avelino.
Montes and Abrenica were in Cebu City last Saturday for the Kapamilya Karavan at Robinsons Galleria and to celebrate Sinulog Festival yesterday.
In an interview with the Cebu entertainment press last Saturday, Montes said that when her afternoon soap, “Doble Kara” ended last year, she was able to spend more time with her family.
“It’s really a nice feeling. Kasi na enjoy ko. Honestly, specific prayer ko before na pag nag-end ang “Doble Kara,” I wanted to find something na ma e-enjoy ko ang peaceful life sa family off cam,” the actress said.
Montes may have social media accounts but she does not usually post about her personal space and private activities.
“After “Doble Kara,” bi-nlessed ako ng time, ng opportunity.
Eto na naman,” she added.
The pilot episode of “Asintado” was aired on January 15. In the drama series, Montes plays as Ana, an emergency medical technician.
Even before the project was made, Montes had been into firing and Muay Thai training. She described her character Ana as brave, loving, hardworking, and caring.
“For me this is more challenging kasi I am not portraying one character only. Hindi sa dahil may kakambal ako or may ka triplets, whatsoever, pero marami akong emotional journey na papasukin and marami akong gagawin and gagampanin na specific persona para sa journey ng soap,” she said.
WORKING WITH ALJUR
This is also the first time that Abrenica and Montes are working together in a project in ABS-CBN.
“Asintado” is also Abrenica’s first major project in Kapamilya Network after he transferred from GMA in August 2017.
“Masarap katrabaho si Aljur kasi giving actor, generous actor. Hindi ni re-relax ang sarili sa isang trabaho. Kumbaga, pag sinabing work, work. At alam mong hindi binabaliwala ang eksena and for me that’s very important lalo na pag co-actor,” Montes said.
Abrenica admitted during the interview that he was nervous when he learned that he would be working with Montes.
“Kasi, ang iniisip ko sa sarili ko, sigurado kayo na eto ang project para sa akin? Naniniwala kayo na makakatrabaho ko tong mga hinahangaan ko?
Totoo ‘yun. Hinahangaan ko sa ABS-CBN,” Abrenica said.
Abrenica had to go back to firing as part of his preparation for “Asintado” as he plays Alexander, a former military man.
“Asintado” boasts a stellar lineup of seasoned supporting actors led by Lorna Tolentino, Agot Isidro, and Cherry Pie Picache.
