A lawn mower operator was shot dead by two unidentified assailants while on his way home on board his vehicle in Barangay Banilad, Cebu City past 2 p.m. on Friday.

Lutcher Labares, 42, a resident of Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City, suffered a gunshot wound on his head.

“He died on the spot,” said SPO1 Winston Ybañez, investigator of the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office, in an interview.

A manhunt operation is being conducted to arrest the suspects.

“We are looking into all the angles to identify the motive behind the killing,” Ybañez said.

Based on their investigation, Labares’ Toyota Tamarraw FX was moving slowly due to traffic.

“It was then when the two suspects walked towards the victim and fired shots at him,” he said.

Based on the testimonies of the witnesses, the suspects did not wear any face mask.
