EDUARDO de la Torre dominated the first monthly tournament of the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (Cepca) last Sunday at the J Centre Mall in Mandaue City.
Dela Torre scored a perfect run, winning all five matches in the five-round Swiss system format competition.
He beat Arje Allarin in the first round, Joe Atillo in the second, Jervy Villarin in the third, Mario Bustillo in the fourth, and Arnold Cadiz in the fifth.
National Master (NM) Arnolito Cadiz settled for second with 4.0 points followed by Bustillo at third with 3.5 points.
Dela Torre received a P1,500 purse while NM Cadiz and Bustillo went home with P1,00 and P500 respectively.
The tournament was participated by around 50 woodpushers.
