Over 5,000 otakus, cosplayers, artists and hobbyists flocked the grounds of Cebu Business Park yesterday to celebrate the 10th year of Otakufest.
This year, the production team of Otakufest decided to bring the event outside of its birthplace, the University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu.
Sonia Margarette Vidal, chief director for Otakufest 2018, said the growing number of guests prompted them to change the venue.
Dubbed as Cebu’s premier cosplay and hobby convention, guests participated a variety of events, including cosplay, Japanese karaoke competitions, ramen-eating contest, board games.
Guests were also treated to different varities of Japanese food.
Otaku is the Japanese term to describe a person who has an obsession with a certain aspect of pop culture.
