Sinulog Festival to receive award in Korea
Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña is heading to Seoul in South Korea to attend the 6th Korea Festival Contents Grand Prix for the Asia Popularity Festival Award.
Osmeña will be in Soul until February 28, where the Sinulog Festival will receive an award.
Cha Jung Hyun, Korea Festival Contents Grand Prix organizing committee president, hoped that Cebu can proudly promote Sinulog Festival to Korea and to the world through their award.
“The Asia Popularity Festival Award is designed to select the successful festivals in Asia, enhance the prestige and fame of the festivals in Korea and help a lot of tourists to participate in the festival,” Hyun said.
According to Ricky Ballesteros, Sinulog Foundation Inc. (SFI) Executive Director, the award is another accolade for Cebu and its people.
“We didn’t expect that Korea has given Cebu the award,” Ballesteros said.
Last year, the award was given to Mongolia Naadam Festival of Mongolia which highlighted the only must-see attraction for tourists in July.
