AFC CUP
The Global Cebu FC of the Philippines and the Bali United of Indonesia got a point each as their 2018 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup match last night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila ended in a 1-all draw.
It was the first home game for the Global Cebu FC in the tournament.
With both teams going for the jugular at the opening whistle, it was Global’s Curt Dizon who headed in a cross that found the back of the net in the 11th minute.
Bali leveled the match on a set play when Ilija Spasojevic flicked in with his head a corner taken by Fadhil Sausa in the 73rd minute.
Bali had a chance to score a second goal when it was handed a penalty kick caused by Marco Casambre. However, Patrick Deyto foiled Spasojevic’s attempt.
Global will next face Yangon United on March 7.
Although both Global and Bali have a point each with similar 0-0-1 win-loss-draw cards, Bali takes the third spot while Global is at the bottom of Group G due to goal difference.
